These Atlas-O items were originally sold as separate sale items. We have
combined them so that the lucky railroader can get the complete commuter train,
all 6-units. The set includes:
- NJ Transit ALP-44 Electric Engine (6205-1)
- Comet II Commuter Car (6234-1)
- 3-Pack of Comet II Commuter Cars (6215)
- Deluxe Comet II Commuter Cab Car (6252)
By including the Commuter Cab car, you will be able to duplicate prototypical
Pull-Push operations. The Cab car allows the engineer to operate the train from
the rear with the locomotive pushing instead of pulling. The Cab car has a
headlight, marker lights, strobe lights and sound.
Out of this set, only the locomotive has been operated slightly. The Commuter
and Cab cars are new and have never been run.
NJ Transit ALP-44 Electric Engine (6205-1)
Needing a replacement for the aging GG-1 electric locomotives on its
northeast corridor, Amtrak created the AEM-7. Modeled after the Swedish Rc-4
locomotives, the AEM-7's began arriving in November of 1979 and continued to be
built throughout the 1980's. Packing 7000 HP into a locomotive body only 51 feet
in length, the AEM-7 consistently achieves speeds in excess of 125 MPH in
Metroliner Service.
In 1990, NJ Transit received the first of their fleet of ALP-44's. Basically
and AEM-7 with NJ Transit specified options, the ALP-44 has proven highly
successful in New Jersey commuter operations.

Comet II Commuter Cars
The Comet II commuter passenger cars were first introduced in 1980-1981 by
Bombardier. The cars had the genesis in the earlier Comet commuter cars which
were built for the Erie Lackawanna and New Jersey DOT. The cars have gained
great acceptance with many of the transit agencies including NJ Transit.
Millions of commuters ride these cars everyday to work in the population centers
of New York, Philadelphia and Boston.
Features:
- Full scale length approximately 21-1/2"
- Accurate scale details
- Separately applied metal handrails
- Interior seating
- Accurate inside-bearing commuter trucks
- Operating tail lights
- Die-cast operating couplers
- Accurate painting and lettering

Comet II Commuter Cab Car
The Cab car was developed so that the engineer could control the train from
the rear when operating in reverse. This allows for Pull-Push operation using
the same locomotive. The Cab car has the same features as the Commuter cars
(above) plus the following:
- Operating headlight
- Strobe light
- Horn & Bell sounds
- Painted engineer figure
