While the insulated track section is the same lengths as a standard 10"
straight, it has an insulated center rail and an insulated outside rail. Both
ends of the insulated outside rail are electrically insulated from the rest of
the track layout by fiber pins at each end.
The insulated track section is used to replace the old pressure sensitive
track contactors which activate and control trackside accessories. When a piece
of rolling stock enters this section of track, the metal wheels and axles
conduct electricity across the two outer rails completing the circuit that
activates the accessory. There are several ways to use and to wire the insulated
track section which are explained in the included instruction sheet.
This track section is compatible with any O-Gauge, 3-rail tubular track.
So, get rid of those unsightly track contactors and wire a more reliable
method of turning on and off your accessories.
