Wow! This is an incredible find. A complete 5-car set of Lionel's pre-war
Union Pacific M10000 Union Pacific streamlined passenger set. This set is known
as the City Of Portland Set. This set includes
a 752E Diesel engine unit, 2-753 coach cars and a 754 observation car.
There are 4 vestibules that go in between the cars. In addition, there is a 752B
Baggage car included that can be added to the consist. This makes a total of
5-units plus 4 vestibules. These sets
were sold originally in both three and four car versions with the Baggage car
added later.
This set was professionally restored by Pride Lines in Lindenhurst, NY in
1998 and has been in storage ever since. The only marks on it are on the edges
of the three vestibules where they contact the inside of the cars and scrape a
bit as the train goes around a curve. These are very minor marks. The engine,
each vestibule and the observation car are lighted so that the cars show
interior lighting as it runs. This is an all metal train. The lower section of
the passenger cars, and engine and the front end of the engine and rear of the
observation car are heavy die-cast construction. The length of the entire 5-unit
train is 77" long and it requires a minimum curve of O-72 to operate on.
This is a beautiful set and worthy of any collector's shelf!
