Description

Described as 'unusual' and 'fascinating' in Lionel's own 1950 catalog, the 456R Operating Coal Ramp is sure to spark conversations around your layout.  Designed to work with a 3456 Operating Hopper (sold separately), the 456R is as fun to operate as it is unique.  After backing the 3456 Hopper up the ramp and coupling it to an ElectroCoupler in the 456R's end tower, engage the unit's electromagnet and watch as the coal falls through the bottom of the open hopper bay doors into the bin below.  Shipped with metal support posts, the 456R bin can be attached to the 397 Operating Coal Loader and dumped from above.  Both accessories together make a wonderful operating unit.

For those who have original versions of the 3456 Operating Hopper, our new 456R Coal Ramp will accommodate these cars, plus modern versions as well, and the 456R will accommodate both O and O-27 track.

  • Die-cast bottom ramp frame
  • Extruded aluminum ramp
  • Stamped metal base and handrail stanchions
  • Nickel plated brass handrails
