Lionel 6-31773 Norfolk Southern Dash-9 Tank Train Set, Legacy Command Control

They're back again in a new set and paint scheme. Scale-sized, interconnecting TankTrain tank cars by Lionel, pulled for the first time by a LEGACY-equipped locomotive. Using a system of interlinking hoses and valves, TankTrain cars are all connected for efficiency. This system allows bulk liquid to be loaded or unloaded from just one end of a TankTrain string, at a rate of 3,000 gallons per minute!

   This Lionel train set features a string of five TankTrain cars headed by a scale-sized black beauty ? the Norfolk Southern Dash 9 #9039, equipped with LEGACY Command Control, Odyssey II Speed Control, and LEGACY RailSounds. Each tank car features many separately applied details, such as piping and walkways. In the tradition of modern caboose-less railroading, an End-of-Train Device is mounted on the rear of the B-end car.

This great set is in new condition. We have track tested the locomotive to make sure that all features are working properly. What we learned in testing this engine is that to get full benefit of the features that are available when operating in conventional mode, is that you must have a modern era Lionel transformer such as a CW-80 or better. The Lionel transformers have what is called a "chop sine wave" output that is necessary to trigger some of the features. When operating in TMCC or Legacy Command Control, you can use any compatible transformer as the Command Control unit outputs the "chop sine wave" needed.
