Lionel 6-8610 Wabash Fallen Flags Series No. 1 Complete Passenger Set
|
This series commemorates the venerable, old railroads that once criss-crossed the nation carrying freight and passengers to all points east and west of the Mississippi, north of the Rio Grande and south of the U.S.-Canada border. They live again now, only on the Lionel line. Wabash, the first of the series, ran 2400 miles of track across the heartland of America. Though it operates just a few passenger trains, they were held in renown throughout the industry. On October 16, 1964, the Wabash flag fell forever.
This set was not originally sold as a set, the items in the set were listed individually in the 1986 Lionel catalog. There was no set box, so it is rare that we get the complete set all together, especially in this condition.
This set is in new condition and has not been run. It has only been taken out of the boxes for these pictures. There are no marks, scratches or defects. The original owner of the collection that this is from was a packaging engineer. He was extremely meticulous and fabricated heavy weight cardboard boxes for all of his collection. He created a set box for these components to fit into, so it has been well protected over the years.
