This set is new in the boxes. We have track tested it to make sure that all features work and that it runs properly. This is the ProtoSound version that has the ON/OFF switch for the back-up battery and the battery is not required for operation and is only used to keep the sounds going when the power is interrupted. We upgraded the original NiCad battery to a new genuine MTH NiMH battery for better battery performance. Includes the boxes and packing materials.
