Lionel 6-18117, 6-18118, 6-18121, 6-18122 Santa Fe F-3 Diesel ABBA Set with RailSounds II

The main series of diesel engines offered by the Electro-Motive Division of General Motors after WW II was the F-series of freight units. The F-3 was only one of four types of units offered in this series. The total post-war production was of 1807 F-3 units spanned from 1945 through 1949. Two of these engines were delivered to the Santa Fe Railroad for freight use in the late 1940's and were the only F-3's used on this railway; the remainder were F-7's.

Here is a very impressive O-Gauge Santa Fe F-3 Diesel Set. Lionel originally sold the 6-18117/18118 as a set. The two additional units were sold individually in subsequent years. We have combined all units to make this a complete set for you.  The 6-18117/18118 were listed in the Lionel catalog as a powered unit and a non powered unit. In addition, you get the two 'B' units that were sold separately. 'B' unit 6-18122, contains the Diesel RailSounds II digital sound system featuring the sounds of the diesel engine operating that is synchronized to the speed of the engine and operating diesel horn and bell. The second 'B' unit, 6-18121 is a dummy unit. The overall length of these 4-units is a whopping 52-1/2" and they will operate on O-31 or greater curves.

The 6-18117 powered A-unit has been upgraded to be equipped with Lionel TMCC Command Control but does not include RailSounds as that system is in the 6-18122 B-unit. Note that the bell and horn are not controlled by the TMCC system and are operated conventionally.

This set of four units has barely been run as evidenced by light rail-marks on the wheels and pick-up rollers. We have tested them and they run great and all the electronics work properly. There is no damage or defects on any of the units. Boxes all include the Styrofoam packing inserts. Instructions have been re-printed from Lionel's web site but do not include instructions for TMCC as that system was added.
